If your dishwasher is leaking then it might have a few things wrong. The first thing to check is if there is a puddle of water at the bottom the dishwasher after completing a wash cycle. If there is not then you might just have a bad Dishwasher seal. These are often made of rubber and can be replaced easily.
If you do have a puddle that won’t drain in the bottom of the dishwasher then you should check to see if the drain hose is plugged. The drain hose will be coming out of the bottom of the machine usually destined for the sink area so it can link into the sink drain. Disconnect the dishwasher drain hose and blow though it to make sure that it is not plugged. If it is this could be the problem and you can just replace the hose or blow through it with compressed air to remove the clog.
Another reason why the dishwasher could be leaking is because the water pump in the dishwasher could be clogged with food debris. To check if it’s plugged you will need to remove the water spraying carousel at the bottom of the dishwasher. To do this you will need to remove the dishwasher racks. Then remove the carousel, many times it just snaps into place, on other models there might be some hardware to remove like screws or nuts and bolts but there will be very few of them like 4 or so. After removing the carousel then check the water inlet where the dishwasher drains for obstructions that could be causing your dishwasher to leak. After removing this gunk or whatever might be blocking the obstruction your dishwasher should be able to drain again effectively repairing the leak.
Now you can check to see if the dishwasher will pump the water out the drain hose before reinstalling the wash racks. Many times, this will fix the problem because often dishwashers do not get the catch drain cleaned often enough and subsequently get clogged with food debris. We recommend cleaning the dishwasher food catch often to avoid this problem as it can cause pump Failure.
If you have something more serious wrong like a busted water pump in the dishwasher, then that will require more intensive repair and often a trip to the shop to have new parts installed. Not to worry though we can fix it or install a new unit if necessary.
